U.S. Olympians sue Samsung over Facebook app

April 26, 2012 By kunal Leave a Comment

Samsung Electronics has been sued by 18 U.S. Olympians because the company used their names and images without their permission on a Facebook app. The app in question is U.S. Olympic Genome Project that promises to connect Facebook users with the Team USA.

The athletes claim the use of their images in the app gives an impression that they endorse the product and are seeking damages for misappropriation of their names.

Samsung says they followed the “U.S. Olympic Committee’s procedure to communicate with athletes” and gave them an opportunity to approve or disapprove the participation.
