Samsung has confirmed to have joined the Linux Foundation as a Platinum Member. It is the highest tier of membership at the Linux Foundation that will earn the Korean company a place in the Board of Directors.

Samsung’s investment reiterates its commitment to the Linux platform as they’ve been using the Linux kernel, Linux-based products across various categories and even founded the Tizen OS based on Linux along with Intel.

The Linux Foundation is an important organization. It brings the right people and resources together to help companies and developers advance Linux for everyone. We’re looking forward to increasing collaboration and support for our growing portfolio of Linux-based devices and to making contributions that advance Linux for all.
