Earlier this year, Samsung confirmed to have settled ongoing lawsuits with German-based Osram AG and reach a cross licensing agreement. Both companies also agreed to “look into the possibility of jointly developing LED-based products in the future.”

But as it turns out, the joint venture won’t happen, per MK News. The main reason for not going ahead with the joint venture is due to the “complicated business structures” of Osram that can create an issue for “Samsung contractors.” The financial liability is also cited as another reason.

We had considered working with OSRAM to create a joint venture proposed by a PE firm but stopped the discussion at an initial stage.
