South Korea: Samsung chip plant caused cancer to its employee

December 14, 2012 By kunal Leave a Comment

The Korea Workers’ Compensation and Welfare Service that is part of the labor ministry claimed an ex-Samsung employee got cancer due to her employment at the company’s chip plant. The employee, whose last name is identified as Kim worked in Samsung’s semiconductor factory and was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The ministry found a “considerable causal relationship” between her employment with Samsung between 1995-2000 and cancer that was apparently due to the exposure organic solvents and radiation.

Samsung has maintained no discrepancy in the working conditions at its plants but has been under scrutiny for quite some time.
