Samsung will skip Windows RT tablet launch in US

January 11, 2013 By kunal Leave a Comment

Samsung ATIV Tab

Samsung has confirmed to CNET about their intentions of not launching a Windows RT tablet in the United States. Windows RT is an OS optimised for devices powered by ARM chips and ATIV Tab is the only tablet from Samsung that features the Windows RT + ARM processor combo.

The reason cited by Mike Abary, SVP, PC and tablet business in US, is the lack of demand from its retail partners and needs a lot of effort (and investment) to educate customers the difference between a full-fledged Windows 8 OS and Windows RT.

This confirmation comes two days after Steve Ballmer showcased the Samsung tablet in Qualcomm’s pre-CES keynote.
