Samsung is apparently experimenting with a new pixel layout for its AMOLED panels, claims Digitimes. According to their industry sources, Samsung is trying out a hexagon or a diamond-shaped pixel layout so as to achieve a higher pixel density in smaller sized AMOLED panels.

Samsung is trying to achieve a pixel density of over 440ppi and is not possible with the current side-by-side layout.

Samsung will purportedly use this layout in the upcoming Galaxy S IV device.
