The jury in the US case back in August last year awarded Apple a sum of $1.05 billion in damages as they found Samsung infringing iPhone maker’s patents. But according to the latest news judge Lucy Koh has reduced the awarded damages by $450.5 million.

The reason for reducing the damages were that the jury based its verdict on an “impermissible theory” and ruled a new trial for some Samsung products.

Samsung still has to pay $598.9 million as per the jury verdict but new damages award will be set after the new jury determines in the second trial.
