Eye-tracking feature could be the next reason to fight between Samsung and LG

March 19, 2013 By kunal Leave a Comment

Galaxy S4

Samsung and LG are entangled in a new controversy as the Korean arch-rivals are feuding over the use of eye-tracking technology in their respective flagship devices. Both Samsung and LG have a feature called Smart Pause and Smart Video introduced in the Galaxy S4 and the Optimus G Pro respectively.

The feature basically tracks user’s eye movements and pauses the video when the person is not looking at the screen.

Kind of nifty but LG feels Samsung’s inclusion of this feature infringes their patent granted in 2009. However, Samsung claims there is no patent infringement since they own the original technology and use a different technique.

LG plans to check the Galaxy S4 phone once it hits the market for any potential infringement.
