Earlier this week, Samsung announced two new additions – Galaxy S4 mini and Galaxy S4 zoom for the Indian market. As the name suggests, the Galaxy S4 mini is a replica of the original Galaxy S4 phone that boasts a similar design language but comes in a compact form factor. Interestingly, the Galaxy S4 mini also has a plastic body but felt more sturdy, possibly due to its compact size than the Galaxy S4.
The hardware that powers the phone is completely different than the flagship. The phone is powered by a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor and 1.5GB RAM along with a 4.3-inch qHD screen (960×540) and given our brief tryst with it, the phone felt quick and responsive. Sure there weren’t any third-party apps installed on the device but the dual-core Snapdragon handled it pretty well.
The 8 megapixel sensor at the back handles the main camera duty while the 1.9 megapixel on the front is used for other purposes. As for the camera modes, you’d find some features like Sound & Shot, Best Photo, Best Face.
The Galaxy S4 mini that will be sold in India will be a dual-SIM version (I9192) and other software enhancements that will be a part of the overall package will be Story Album, S Translator, S Health, WatchON with IR remote control and lots more.
The Galaxy S4 mini will sell in India for Rs. 27,990.
