840 EVO SSD

Samsung at the SSD Global Summit in South Korea today announced their new SSD dubbed as 840 EVO. The 840 EVO SSD uses 10nm-class 128Gb NAND and boasts a storage of up to 1TB.

Samsung says the drive uses their proprietary controller and a Turbo Write drive that gives faster read/write speeds. The 120GB 840 EVO SSD has a sequential write speed of 410MB/s while the 250GB 840 EVO has a write speed of 520MB/s.

As for the highest capacity available – 1TB, the sequential read/write speed is 540/520MB per second with IOPS reaching 98,000 (read) and 90,000 (write) respectively.

The 840 EVO SSDs will be available in capacities of 120GB, 250GB, 500GB, 750GB and 1TB.
