Galaxy Gear won’t feature a SIM card slot

More information about Samsung’s Galaxy Gear continue to trickle out. This new piece of info comes from The Verge who confirms Galaxy Gear is a smartwatch but not a phone with an integrated SIM card slot.

According to their source, “the watch is not a phone” but instead “works with phones”, hinting the wearable device will work in conjunction with a primary smartphone or a tablet via Bluetooth or any other interface.

As the site rightly points out, making the Galaxy Gear act like a real phone could pose a lot of issues like how does a user talk or the battery life, which also led to the limited uptake of its S9110 watchphone (that came with calling capabilities).

Samsung will reveal the Galaxy Gear on September 4 along with Galaxy Note III.
