Samsung is yet to commercially launch a device running on Tizen OS but going by co-CEO, BK Yoon’s statement, we might see Tizen in other appliances like TVs as well. BK Yoon confirmed to a German site that Tizen will be used “on some of our smartphones just like on our TVs and on home appliances.” The reason for a Tizen-based TV would be to create an ecosystem for its devices.

CNET got a confirmation from a Samsung spokesperson as well who claimed they’re considering a TV based on Tizen OS but more information like availability “will be determined by market conditions.”

Samsung is expected to release its first Tizen-based smartphone this year and gradually expand to other devices.
