Samsung: Galaxy S III (I9300), Galaxy S III mini won’t be upgraded to Android 4.4 KitKat

There was a glimmer of hope for international Galaxy S III users when Samsung had released the Android 4.4 KitKat update for LTE variant of Galaxy S III but Samsung has officially confirmed by denying the possibility.

In a statement released to SamMobile, Samsung has confirmed that the I9300 Galaxy S III and the Galaxy S III mini won’t get the KitKat goodness as it comes with 1GB of RAM. Samsung says the inadequate RAM “does not allow them to effectively support the platform upgrade” that is needed to give them a smooth experience.

The decision is disappointing for Galaxy S III users and doesn’t bode well for Samsung. The confirmation effectively kills software support for Samsung’s two-year old device.
