U.S. Defense Department approves five Samsung devices with KNOX

June 9, 2014 By kunal Leave a Comment

Samsung KNOX

Samsung has confirmed that five of its devices have been included in the Defense Information System Agency (DISA)’s Approved Products List (APL). The devices include Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note PRO and Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) that come with Android 4.4 KitKat and KNOX pre-installed. Surprisingly, there’s no Galaxy S5 in the list.

Samsung says the DISA approval for its KNOX-enabled devices came after “compliance with over hundred unique requirements, ranging from encryption to intrusion detection to key exchange to support for secure networking standards.”

However, as Wall Street Journal rightly points out this approval does not translate to profit for the Korean company but it does take Samsung a step closer to supplying to government agencies. The APL also includes many competitive products like Apple’s iPhone, iPad and even BlackBerry devices.
