Samsung and Rovi have confirmed to extend and renew their patent license agreement. The monetary compensation is under wraps but the multi-year license agreement will enable Samsung to use Rovi’s video discovery patents and technologies across Samsung’s TV and related products. The agreement will also add metadata in new regions where Samsung sells TVs.
Samsung makes use of Rovi’s metadata in handsets as well and as you can see from the image above, Galaxy Note 3 Neo in India uses metadata from Rovi.
