Last week, one of Samsung’s suppliers was accused of employing underage workers in China and following an initial investigation by Samsung, the supplier – Dongguan Shinyang Electronics Co. Ltd. has been temporarily suspended.
Samsung says the latest investigation found some evidence of child labour at the factory and if further investigations prove the supplier to have deliberately infringed Samsung’s labour policy, the Korean giant has assured to permanently “halt business with the supplier in accordance with its zero tolerance policy on child labour.”
Interestingly, Samsung conducted three audits since 2013 with the most recent being on June 25 and on every occasion found the supplier to be complying with Samsung’s labour policy.
