Samsung might show off a new TV with “Quantum Dots” (QD) technology at the IFA that is slated to happen in Berlin this week. The television powered by Quantum Dots will most likely be a prototype that will emphasise Samsung’s technological prowess in the TV market.

According to Korea Times, while the LCD TV market is slowing down due to industry saturation, QD-powered LCD TVs can save the day as it has the ability to offer high colour gamut, comparable to OLED TVs.

Samsung Display, makers of display panels for Samsung Electronics have declined to comment but Samsung recently trademarked the term “QDOT” with the US Patent office that suggests QD UHD TV could come sooner or later.
