
Samsung today expanded its lineup of memory cards with the PRO Plus and EVO Plus range. The new range consists of SD cards as well as microSD cards and PRO Plus is targeted at devices like DSLRs, mobile phones, tablets that record and store 4K UHD videos. The PRO Plus range adheres to both UHS-I Speed Class 3 (U3) and Class 10 standards and offers a read and a write speed of up to 95MB/s and 90MB/s respectively. The PRO Plus lineup will come in 32GB and 64GB options only.
The EVO Plus on the other hand, is a slightly affordable option that supports UHS-I Speed Class I (U1) and Class 10 standards and has read/write speeds of up to 80/20 MB/s respectively.
Both the cards come with Samsung’s ‘5-proof’ features that makes it endure water, extreme temperature, X-ray, magnets and shock. It can now withstand temperatures ranging from -25°C to 85°C (-13°F to 185°F) or from around -40°C to 85°C (-40°F to 185°F) during non-operation. Additionally, the cards can withstand 72 hours of being submerged in seawater and X-ray proof with resistance of up to 15,000 gauss magnetic force.
Samsung will launch the new microSD cards this month with SD cards to follow in South Korea, US, China, Europe and other regions.
