Samsung sets up a team to focus on driverless car components

Samsung today announced that they have setup a team to focus on parts catering to self-driving cars. There’s no other information as to what specific part the team will focus on or how big the team is but given Samsung’s history, it’s safe to say, Samsung will dabble with lots of things before finding its comfort zone.

The new team will interestingly, remain independent of company’s different divisions, probably to give it more autonomy and to reach important decisions quickly.

Samsung currently is in the automobile business in its home country South Korea with Renault and another subsidiary provides batteries to global car manufacturers.
