Samsung brainBAND tracks concussions in real time

Samsung brainBAND

Samsung has revealed yet another project that tries to put technology to a good use. The brainBAND project is a wearable that can be worn on user’s head to give realtime data on the impact and the degree of injury caused to the brain by that impact. Samsung reckons this is a very useful gadget for Rugby (Football for US readers) players as regular blows to the head in a contact sport like this can have long-term adverse effects not only on the player but also on the family.

The band syncs with the smartphone, tablet or a smartwatch and relays important realtime information of different players on the device. The brainBAND on the other hand, lights up the band according to the force detected by the impact, thus allowing the on-field referee, coach or medic to take corrective action immediately.
