Samsung is slowly and steadily expanding its Samsung Pay service in the world’s biggest smartphone market. Today they have announced a partnership with Ant Financial Services Group, parent company of Alipay that will allow existing or new Alipay users to pay from their account through Samsung Pay in China. With Samsung Pay, users can swipe up from the Lock Screen, Home Screen or Sleep Mode, select the Alipay QR code and pay at the register by scanning merchant’s QR code.
Samsung Pay currently works on devices like Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy Note5, Galaxy A5(2016), Galaxy A7(2016), Galaxy A9(2016) and Galaxy A9 Pro in China and Samsung expects to support more devices in the future.
We are excited to be working with Alipay to expand Samsung Pay services in China. The reception of Samsung Pay since its launch has been extremely positive and the service has already seen tremendous success in terms of availability and adoption by consumers. We ultimately want to make Samsung Pay available to as many consumers as possible around the globe, so that everyone can have the opportunity to enjoy the simplicity, safety and convenience of this mobile payment solution.
