Samsung expects to take a $3 billion hit due to Galaxy Note7 fiasco

October 14, 2016 By Siddhanth Leave a Comment

Galaxy Note7

Discontinuation of Galaxy Note7 would have had an impact on Samsung’s revenues but the Korean giant has now confirmed how big the impact will be. Samsung says approximately 3 trillion won (around $3 billion) will be shaved off for the next two quarters, including 2 trillion on Q4 2016 and 1 trillion in Q1 2017.

Samsung has already adjusted the direct cost of discontinuation in the third quarter and recently lowered their earnings guidance to 5.2 trillion won compared to the original 7.8 trillion won.

Furthermore, Samsung plans to capitalise by expanding sales of its Galaxy S series flagship devices – the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
