EU Commission to investigate Samsung’s 3G patent claims against Apple

November 4, 2011 By kunal Leave a Comment

Looks like we’ve got a major twist in the legal war between Samsung and Apple. As discovered by Foss Patents, Apple’s recent court filing in California says that Samsung’s litigation has attracted European Commission’s attention and “has opened an investigation to determine whether Samsung’s behavior violates EU competition laws.”

The site says the Commission is investigating FRAND standards patents and if Samsung is found guilty, the Korean giant may have to pay fine, curb the lawsuits that includes the said patents and sign a licensing agreement with Apple on FRAND terms.
