Samsung has teamed up with Korea International Volunteer Organization (KVO) to donate 1000 Solar LED lanterns in the villages of Oromia, Ethiopia. Samsung will contribute these solar powered LED lanterns to 1000 households in a bid to address the electricity problem (which is under 10 percent) and to also protect citizens (especially children) from harmful gases emitted by oil-based lanterns.
Samsung says parts like LED, solar panels, batteries are produced by its subsidiaries like SDI and LED and the lamp will function for more than 10 years.
