Samsung showed off the Series 3 Chromebox at the CES and yesterday they officially announced the pricing and availability for the American market. The world’s first Chromebox is a compact machine that packs some decent hardware and runs the latest version of Chrome OS.
The Chromebox is powered by Intel’s Celeron B840 dual-core (1.9GHz) processor and features 4GB RAM, 16GB SSD and can be connected to two different 30-inch displays via the integrated DisplayPort slots. Additionally, the Intel HD Graphics 3000 handles the graphics duties and comes with six USB 2.0 ports, Wi-Fi, Ethernet and combined headphone and mic jack. The Series 3 Chromebox is available now for $330.
Samsung’s Series 5 Chromebooks 550 have entered into their second generation and now comes with Intel Celeron 847 dual-core CPU (1.3GHz), 4GB RAM, 16GB SSD and integrated Intel graphics. The 12.1-inch notebook is equipped with 2 USB 2.0 ports, 4-in-1 memory card slot, DisplayPort that allows 1080p playback, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, 1MP HD webcam and up to 6 hours of battery life.
Series 5 Chromebook comes in Wi-Fi and 3G variants and costs $450 and $550 respectively.
