U.S. District Judge Lucy Koh today granted a preliminary injunction against Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet. The ban on Samsung’s tablet came after a federal appeals court instructed Koh to reconsider her previous decision on Apple’s request.
The injunction will come into effect once Apple posts a $2.6m bond, which is to protect Samsung from damages, if the injunction were to be lifted after an upcoming trial.
Needless to say, Samsung isn’t happy with the outcome but said the decision won’t have a major impact on their business since consumers can choose from a wide variety of Galaxy Tabs ranging in size from 7-inch to 10.1-inch.
“We believe today’s ruling will ultimately reduce the availability of superior technological features to consumers in the United States.”
Samsung also confirmed to take the “necessary legal steps” to appeal the ban.
