This shouldn’t be a surprise since Samsung’s Galaxy S4 will be fitted with this chip but if you needed any official confirmation, Samsung has announced that its Exynos 5 Octa SoC will go into mass production from Q2, which could be as early as next month.
Announced at CES earlier this year, Exynos 5 Octa is the first chip to integrate ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture that boasts four cores of Cortex-A15 for processor-intense tasks and four cores of Cortex-A7 for light tasks. This configuration saves about 70 percent of power compared to using Cortex-A15 cores only, claims Samsung.
Exynos 5 Octa is based on 28nm HKMG process, boasts two times better 3D graphics than Exynos 4 Quad, up to WQXGA (2560×1600) support.
