Samsung confirmed to Korea Herald that they’re investigating the Galaxy S III explosion that occurred a couple of days ago. Samsung says they’ve “picked up the device” and “launched an investigation” to know the exact cause behind the Galaxy S III explosion.
According to the Reddit user “vizionx1208”, the Galaxy S III was on charge and was woken up by a loud noise and a lot of smoke. Furthermore, the user claims everything on the phone was stock (unrooted) and used company supplied battery and charger.
This is not the first time a Galaxy S III has gone up in flames. Back in 2012, a user in UK reported a similar incident but after an investigation by Fire Investigations UK, it was concluded that the explosion was due to “external energy source”.
