Germany is generally the first country in Europe to get the latest Android update for Samsung Galaxy devices but this time, it’s the consumers in Ireland who get their hands on the Android 4.3 for the Galaxy S III (I9300). The update is available only for Vodafone Ireland customers and will soon be available for consumers across the globe.
The update is substantial considering the Galaxy S III goes directly from Android 4.1 to Android 4.3 and brings in support for Galaxy Gear, ANT+, TRIM for improved performance, Sound & Shot camera mode, tabbed Settings menu, new screen modes, new S Voice, Apps to SD support and lots more.
But as SamMobile points out, despite Samsung changing the core UI elements to match the Galaxy S4, the Android 4.3 Galaxy S III still uses old launcher and widgets. Furthermore, there’s no KNOX secure container for Galaxy S III users.
The reason for the exclusion is unknown at the moment but let’s hope Samsung adds more features to the Android 4.3 on the Galaxy S III as the current build seems to be have minimal features in the new Android version.
