On one hand, Google is trying to eliminate the use of hardware menu keys but on the other hand, Samsung still maintains a physical home button in most of its devices. However, in the case of Galaxy Core Advance that Samsung announced just now, it comes with a slew of physical keys like the voice recorder, camera, volume, menu, home and power functions.
Samsung says the inclusion of physical keys will help users who are less comfortable with the touchscreen display and boasts some accessibility and usability features like –
Optical Scan: Automatically recognizes text from an image and reads it aloud to the user
Light Sensing: It uses the device’s camera to sense light direction and brightness
Instant Voice Recorder: Enables quick voice notes
Screen Curtain: Enables users to operate commands on a black screen to ensure privacy and saves battery life
Voice Guided Camera: It will help users take pictures by reading out the number of faces detected and their standing location
Specs-wise, the Galaxy Core Advance is an HSPA-enabled device powered by a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, 4.7-inch WVGA TFT display, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal memory, 5MP main and front-facing VGA, Android 4.2 OS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, Sound & Shot, Group Play, S Translator, Easy Mode, S Voice, S Beam, Instant Voice Recorder, Voice Guidance (TTS, Voice Guided Camera, Text Reader), FM Radio.
The Galaxy Core Advance will sell globally from early next year in Blue and White.
