Samsung has confirmed that System LSI President, Stephen Woo will step down from his role. While the reason for the resignation from the current role is cited as “personal reasons,” Korean media is rife with rumours of Woo’s health.
Woo will stay with Samsung Electronics in an unspecified role but the LSI business will be taken over by Dr. Kinam Kim from June 1.
According to Samsung’s executive biography page – Dr. Woo first joined Samsung Electronics in 2004 as Executive Vice President and head of Mobile Solution Development at the System LSI Division of its Semiconductor Business. In 2007, he was appointed head of SOC Research and Development there. Dr. Woo became General Manager of the System LSI Division in May 2008 and was promoted to President in December 2010.
