Samsung has started rolling out Android Lollipop for some of its devices but the software update is yet to begin for Samsung’s Galaxy S4. A new thread has cropped up on XDA Developers Forum that leaks the Android 5.0.1 firmware for Galaxy S4 (GT-I9500). It’s a Chinese build for the Exynos variant of the Galaxy S4 and in all fairness, looks to be an older test build than the final software that will hit the Galaxy S4 through Kies or OTA.
The screenshots reveal a slightly improved TouchWiz with new flat icons and a new feature in the notification panel known as ‘Always Interrupt’ (!).
There’s no word from Samsung on when Galaxy S4 users can receive the update but the best guess would be sometime late February or early March.
Needless to say, leaked firmware comes with its usual set of risks and it is unwise to flash it if you’re uncomfortable with Odin.
