A new report published by Wall Street Journal claims some of the features that will appear in Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy S device. According to the article, Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S7 will bring in many new features but will be “less striking” when compared to this year’s Galaxy S6 family.
Akin to Samsung’s strategy with the Galaxy S6, the report claims Samsung will also announce a regular variant aka Galaxy S7 and a curved screen variant aka Galaxy S7 edge.
The phone will have a similar design to the Galaxy S6 but will add few but significant features to compete itself with the competition. For starters, Galaxy S7 will also make some way to pressure-sensitive displays à la Apple’s 3D Touch. Samsung is also expected to integrate USB Type-C with fast charging, which could give about a day’s run time with just 30 minutes of charge.
The camera will also see some improvements but the two most important inclusions seems to be the retina scanner and the microSD card slot in the regular Galaxy S7 variant. The microSD card slot would be a welcome addition considering Samsung ditched it completely this year for its Galaxy S6 devices.
The report also claims that Samsung will maintain its regular announcement cycle, which means the company could unveil it in Barcelona, Spain, just before the start Mobile World Congress (MWC) and could go on sale in mid-March in the US.
