As expected, Samsung has announced its next flagship in the Galaxy Note series. The Galaxy Note7 now boasts an improved design, new S Pen features, and better performance. Confirmed by the series of leaks, including today’s, the Galaxy Note7 is pretty much like the Galaxy S7 edge barring a few changes. The Galaxy Note flagship comes with a dual-edge display and adheres to IP68 certification, making it resistant to water and dust.
Performance-wise, the phone will be able to handle most tasks effectively as it will run on Samsung’s own 14nm Exynos octa-core processor and 4GB RAM. The base internal storage is now 64GB but Samsung is allowing it to expand through the microSD card slot that accepts up to 256GB. Few firsts for Samsung’s new device are USB Type-C, Gorilla Glass 5 and iris scanning technology, which Samsung says provides better security, in addition to the fingerprint sensor.
Speaking of S Pen, users can now take notes without unlocking the screen with Screen off memo and pinning it to the Always On Display. The S Pen also enables creating GIFs with Smart Select and Air Command gains couple new functions like Magnify and Translate that allows users to zoom in on the screen or convert languages with a simple hover of the S Pen.
As far as rest of the features go, it has a 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, LTE Cat. 12 support (in select markets), Dual Pixel 12 megapixel rear-facing f1.7 and front-facing 5 megapixel f1.7 cameras, heart rate sensor, NFC, MST for Samsung Pay and 3500mAh battery with support for fast charging.
The Galaxy Note7 will go on sale globally from on August 19 in colour options of Blue Coral, Gold Platinum, Silver Titanium and Black Onyx.
