Samsung’s known to add features to its flagship phone but if SamMobile’s report is to be believed, Samsung will remove the 3.5mm headphone jack in the upcoming Galaxy S smartphone. Samsung will apparently follow Apple’s footsteps of ditching the ‘taken for granted’ port and instead make use of the USB Type-C port to route the audio. In short, charging and listening to music will not be possibly anymore.
While the advantages of removing 3.5mm headphone jack are still debatable, the removal of a hardware component does make some more room for a bigger battery. Moreover, Samsung is also rumoured to add stereo speakers, which will be powered by Harman, thanks to their latest acquisition.
There’s no word on when Samsung will reveal the latest flagship but given the past announcements, we can expect the device to see the light somewhere around MWC in February next year.
