Samsung has announced that they have developed the industry’s first amorphous silicon (a-Si) single chip LCD with a contrast ratio of 400:1. The new LCD uses ASG (amorphous silicon gate) technology which integrates Gate-driver IC function directly on the surface of the glass panel, while simultaneously integrating the T-con function within the Drive-IC.
A single chip LCD makes the screen more sleek and are we looking at this with the launch of Samsung’s next UMPC? Anyways, the WVGA screen will be unveiled at the SID (Society for Information Display) Symposium, Seminar and Exhibition at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco in June.
