Pushing the limits in the world of technology, Samsung has achieved another feat. This time their goal is to develop a unified solution for all the memory used by mobile phones. Thus we get moviMCP which is nothing but a multi-chip package consisting of 4GB embedded memory card, two 16Gb (gigabit) NAND flash chips and a controller, a 1Gb mobile DRAM chip to support the processor and a 2Gb NAND flash chip for general handset operations. This provides a total memory capacity of 35Gbs. That’s pretty impressive and yes phones manufacturers can develop their handsets on the same platform, decreasing the development time and not to forget its costs.
The chips are available for sampling to potential customers.
