Samsung has pulled off another industry first by bringing full disk encryption (FDE) to SSDs. The FDE solution is developed by Wave Systems and is offered on both 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch SSDs with storage sizes up to 256GB.

FDE enabled SSDs automatically encrypt any information that is written onto the drive without compromising on speed and reliability like conventional HDDs.

Samsung is selling these drives through at least one major OEM at an undisclosed price.
