Samsung announces dual-platter 1TB HDD

July 29, 2009 By kunal Leave a Comment

spinpoint

Samsung has announced a 3.5-inch 1TB Spinpoint F3 HDD that uses two platters instead of the usual three. 500GB on each platter means increase in areal density, faster data access and enhances performance by up to 30 percent. In addition to this, less number of mechanical parts also increases its reliability towards data failure.

The drive spins at 7200RPM, supports 3.0Gbps SATA interface, 16/32MB buffer and incorporates SilentSeek and NoiseGuard for quiet operation.

The 1TB Spinpoint F3 will start shipping from August and a single platter 500GB F3 will ship later on.

PS: Not an actual image of F3.
