Samsung to come up with 400/480Hz TV?

Series 8 LED TVs

Just when you thought LCD TVs equipped with 200Hz (Europe) / 240Hz (US) refresh rates were enough to give motion blur free viewing experience, the word from FlatpanelHD’s source comes that the Korean TV maker is preparing a 400/480Hz television. The first prototype is expected to be on display at IFA 2009 that begins from the 4th of next month.

The currently available LCD TVs with 100 – 240Hz refresh rates reduce motion blur with the help of advanced algorithm that calculates new images and inserts it into the image stream. However, the new 400/480Hz sets are rumored to use what is known as BFI/DFI tech which stands for Black/Dark Frame Insertion. This tech inserts short black frames between original images that makes the image appear clearer and stable.
