Samsung announces YP-R1 PMP for users outside Korea

Samsung has decided to launch its R1 PMP outside its homeland. R1 comes in an aluminum chassis and is touted as the lightest and slimmest (50g and 8.9mm thickness) media player to give out of the box DivX, XviD, H.264, WMV compatibility.

The PMP also has Samsung’s Beat DJ function that allows users to create and play their own sound tracks with the DJ ‘scratch’ feature. As for the screen, it is a 2.6-inches tempered glass touchscreen display.

YP-R1 is equipped with TouchWiz UI, Bluetooth, DNSe 3.0, e-dictionary, voice recording, FM Radio, TV-out and storage capacities of 8 and 16GB.

The PMP will be available from tomorrow in Europe which will be followed by other regions like Russia, China, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

It will be on display at the IFA Berlin 2009 that starts from September 4 this week.
