Samsung announced the industry’s first 65nm-based SoC with channel decoder RF. The chip is specifically targeted at the Chinese market that will enable Chinese users to watch live TV, sports and weather forecasts right in their mobile devices.
The S3C4F71 SoC features a zero-IF CMOS RF tuner, UHF, S-Band frequency range and China’s multimedia mobile broadcasting (CMMB) channel decoder with 8MHz bandwidth. The SoC is also said to consume very less power, around 44 milliwatts (mW) on average and around 170mW during continuous consumption.
Samsung is currently providing samples while the SoC will go into mass production in Q2 2010.
