In addition to 3-bit MLC NAND chips, Samsung also started mass producing 32Gb MLC NAND memory supporting asynchronous DDR interface and have already shipped the first batch to major OEMs.
NAND flash is used in SSDs, SD cards, PMPs etc. and with the adoption of asynchronous DDR NAND, it can greatly improve the performance, taking up to 133Mb per second from the current 40Mb per second from single data rate-based SLC NAND.
Premium memory cards using the 30nm DDR NAND can give a speed of up to 60Mbps, a 300 percent performance gain as compared to SDR NAND-based memory cards.
