Samsung releases v1.5 update for BD-UP5000, fixes Avatar Blu-ray playback issue

April 29, 2010 By kunal 2 Comments

BD-UP5000

Samsung has released a firmware update for its BD-UP5000 player. The v1.5 update comes almost after one and a half year and promises to improve “playback compatibility in some movies”. Needless to say, it refers to the Avatar Blu-ray playback issue that was non-playable due to the new encryption scheme.

The update is just over 30MB and can be downloaded from the link below.

Just download the 1.5 version following manual menu instruction and still can’t play Avatar acquired in HMV.
I did follow: No disk, Menu selection, Update. Then I play Avatar and shows a message that Blueray Samsung BD-UP5000 need an update can’t play Avatar.
