Looks like Samsung’s power packed Android device Galaxy S (GT-I9000) is ready for primetime. CNET Asia has confirmed that Galaxy S will be launching in June in Asia for around $780 and if Samsung’s launch strategy is any indication, we might find the Galaxy S in European and other markets too in the same timeframe. Another interesting tidbit CNET managed to score is Android’s status on the phone. Although the phone will be released with Éclair onboard, Samsung will provide Froyo (Android 2.2) as soon as possible.
Galaxy S features one of the best hardware set, which includes a 1GHz CPU, 4-inch Super AMOLED WVGA screen, 5MP camera with 720p video recording, A-GPS, DivX/Xvid support, Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi 802.11n, microSD card slot and 1500mAh battery.
Amazon Germany is currently taking pre-orders of the device for 649 euros whereas Singapore’s SingTel closed down a limited pre-order of the same.
