Samsung’s marketing initiatives for Behold II had promised to give users Android 2.x update as and when it will be available. However, Samsung has now backtracked from its statement and has said they’re planning to provide Android 1.6 soon and won’t be upgradeable beyond that. The new update will bring Google Maps Navigation, Google Voice Search capability, quick search box for Android, Swype, an improved Media Player, updated core Android applications and improved Bluetooth capabilities.
The reason to not make it upgradeable is not known but this hasn’t gone well with infuriated users who are threatening to take a legal action or provide them with an Android 2.x update or refund the purchase price or replace the phone with a similar model that has Android 2.x.
Almost 600 people (as of writing) have signed up for the petition. If you’re one of the unlucky Behold II users, you can sign up over here.
