Samsung Wave shipping with infected microSD card

UPDATE 2: Vodafone UK has confirmed their lot of Wave phones are free from virus because they don’t bundle any microSD at all.

UPDATE: Samsung has confirmed the trojan affected initial production of Wave for the German market.

Samsung Wave recently started shipping and it seems they’re inadvertently shipping malware along with it. The backdoor Trojan “slmvsrv.exe” is found in the bundled 1GB microSD card and copies itself to the Windows computer when the phone is connected to it.

MobileBurn who found it in their review unit was made for the German market and a Google Search reveals consumers complaining about the same on couple of German forum sites. Though we’re not sure but this problem could be limited to German Wave models only.
