Samsung had earlier confirmed to invest in AMOLED business and now they’ve announced to start construction of a new 5.5-gen AMOLED line. The investment is around 2.5 trillion won ($2.11 billion) and will be one of the biggest AMOLED plants churning out 3-inch mobile panels with an expected production capacity of 30 million panels.
The plant will be operational from July next year.
Didn’t understand. :p New AMOLED plant, new AMOLED technology(like Super AMOLED) or both?
not confirmed except for the fact that it will help them to cope with the demand.
So, it probably would be a new plant. Samsung will sell AMOLED (& S AMOLED) displays everywhere. 🙂
But, I got confused by 5.5-gen AMOLED which looks like an upgrade of Super AMOLED! 😛
