Can’t believe this “Galexy 3” with querty would cost a 189 euros more than the Galexy 3 that’s already on sale for only 200 euros.. Very strange….

Saw it at a dutch online store for 278. Still to expensive compared to the galaxy 3, 190 euro retail price over here, however still better than 380….(see: http://m.bol.com/Default.asp?xf=1006&SQ=39B52E97%2D46FB%2D4762%2D8F73%2DDB3693F94C5D&NODEID=%7BC5C23E1F%2D33FA%2D4774%2DB07F%2DFE38BEC6CEA7%7D&PRODUCTID=78C6E2AE-C640-488C-A7BE-931475592030)

@Rich: It recently appeared on the Samsung product site, which I take is good news. Waiting for it, too. Seems perfect. The only Minus I can see is the small resolution which might result in some apps being unavailable. All the rest: Superb.

The Samsung Galaxy 551 I5510 (sim-free version) is being launched in India for approx EUR 216 (INR 12,799) – see http://www.flipkart.com/samsung-galaxy-551-i5510-modern-black-mobile-mobctxf8sjspww7f

The phone is only available online through this site. Once introduced in the open market, the price may come down further. Hopefully, folks in Europe will also get it at similar price 🙂

is samsung out of stock for the front facing cams??galaxy 551 has everything a good 3g device should have….but certainly lacks the front facing cam..as 3g is round the corner in India, new 3g users might be keen to experience the 3g video calling…

This Phone is simply awesome, got it for INR 12000, cant get my hands off it, Love the hardware keyboard, in heavy usage the battery dies in 1 day, thats the only issue, otherwise the device is awesome, does not lag and after rooting it I have also installed live wallpapers and other stuff, I would have liked a 1 GHZ processor, but the 667 MHZ has not shown any issues been using it for more than a week now and you cant imagine the number of apps i have installed… absolutely no lag… Have also used the LG Optimus one (Friend has one) and both these devices are on par with each other. so if you want a device thats good in performance, not too hard on your pocket and has a hardware keyboard, go in for it… I’m sure you wont regret it…

GALAXY 551 SEEMS TO BE GOOD BUT THE BATTERY SEEMS TO BE VERY BAD…CANNOT TAKE THE PRESSURE OF LOAD FOR MORE THAN A DAY. ALSO, THE PROBLEM OF THE SOFTWARE SYNC WITH OUT LOOK CALENDER. ONE HAS TO GO THROUGH GOOGLE FOR SYNC WHICH IS BAD. APART FROM THAT, YOU CANNOT DOWNLOAD TWO DIFFERENT SCHEDULES, CALENDERS FROM DIFFERENT PST. KIES IS SIMPLY BAD IN CONNECTIVITY. THE SOFTWARE CDS (2 NOS) GIVEN BUT WITHOUT ANY PROPER INSTRUCTIONS IN THE BOX. SAMSUNG ……….ONLY FOR MARKETING IT SEEMS AND DOESN’T APPEAR FOR SERVICE/PRODUCTIVITY.

@Live Wallpapers – Only by rooting AFAIK, but it’d drain the battery anyway 🙂
@Call cancelling after other app – slide down the top bar, there’s a button to end the current call.
@disabling network – had no problems, I advise checking back with the store you got it, probably a faulty unit.

    I like my phone 😀

I bought this handset just a week ago. I have been facing lot of problem in sending as well as receiving messages. Wierd problem though, but samsung do not seem to have any answer for the same. Checked the network provider (Airtel) and found all the settings were in order. Also battery just doesn’t last for even a single day and dies out by evening. No proper guide book. Its just not worth 12k. I am selling it tomo and buying an e5.

I bought this phone since my galaxy S was stolen some months ago. But I really miss my Galaxy S already. This phone is not even near the galaxy S.
It has a slower processor which you notice if you ever had a faster phone. Also some games don’t play smooth.
Apart from minor slowness differences there are bigger points I would like to notify you all about.
    – The keyboard does not type very well. the keys are to much inside the board which does not type very well (I have slightly bigger kands but still normal fingers). I use the onscreen keyboard because it types faster, how lame is that for a phone I bought because it had a keyboard.
    – The touch screen oes not always work very well, especially on the edges (some times I cannot pull down the notifications menu which you need to hang up the phone if you answer a call and check agenda e.g.)
    – Sometimes the phone just shutsdown or reboots for no reason (happened 2 times now).

So my conclusion: Yes it’s a nice phone on first sight and much cheaper than the e.g. Galaxy S (which is really a great phone). But I think the Galaxy Ace is a much better phone if you want a bit cheaper then the Galaxy S. And if you want a phone with a keyboard but you don’t have tiny hands, don’t buy the Galaxy 551.

I have purcahsed this phone but Battry backup is not as it was conveyed. I have been told that there is 9 hrs of continuous talk battery can support and approx. 10 days of stand by time. I usually rceive 2-3 short calls a day but still need to charge the battery on daily basis.

Also, wi-fi connectivity is weired. it frequently goes out and in. Everything else is fine though not happy with these 2 stuff.

    thanks

I purchased this ph 2 days back. Though it’s lovely, I am facing probs with disconnecting the phone call. You need to slide the top bar notification to end the call. Is there any other way also to do that? Is there any key also by which I can end the call like in all other phones?

    Thanks.

@ganesh and @fabiana – yes you can do connect to wpa2 wireless network. i have this phone and currently connected to my corporate wireless network with WPA2. So you must sure used be that WPA2 and AES or EAP encryption . if you can use Radius authentication+WPA2 then use your active directory account information.
