We haven’t really heard about the Galaxy Player (YP-G50) since its unveiling at the IFA. Now Samsung has released a commercial of its first portable media player powered by Android OS. The PMP is expected to go on sale from this month in many regions but apparently, one French retailer is already selling it [Update: The retailer has confirmed that the player is on pre-order. Thanks, Sébastien!].
YP-G50 runs on Android 2.1 OS and features 3.2-inch screen, 2MP camera, DLNA, Wi-Fi, 8 or 16GB internal memory, microSD card slot, GPS, SoundAlive, DivX support and FM Radio.

Not quite, it’s available as a pre-order, they’re not shipping it yet.

to be very frank.. didn’t like it …its just ok…it is complete replica of Galaxy S. Being music device it should change the layout and added more interesting stuff. Only the name & the outer body is changed that it. Was expecting more..kind of break though. 🙁

The size of the screen leaves much to be desired. With 16 mln colors it is absolutely not enough compare to its screen resolution. But so far it seems like a nice new pmp with all functions imaginable, including Wi-Fi and camera! I am definitely interested in it^^

Everyone was expecting Galaxy player based on Galaxy S, but without mobile phone module, but this G50 is just a very simple variation of Galaxy S. It’s nice it has Wi-fi, so I can upload many applications from Android market for free! But they don’t have much games I heard…May be it is better to use it like mp3 player, to be more happy)

I have one question …
The Samsung Galaxy 50 is a phone or not ?!
Sorry about my English, but i don’t speak very well..
kunal says
@TanyaCrespo. No it’s an Android-based music player

It is not a cell phone. It is VERY simple to make it into a wifi phone though, and thats exactly what I use mine as. I have ditched the cell phone completely and now have a mifi for when I’m out of wifi range.
